With 13 years in the game Donnacha Costello has offered up some of the most interesting and forward-thinking techno with his Minimise label out of Ireland. He recently revealed to Resident Adviser thathe plans to close the label for good and launch a new label with a new philosophy in Long Look.
“with the explosion a few years ago of so called ‘Minimal’, suddenly everything was mini-this, mini-that, mini-whatever; so I was starting to cringe at the fact that my label was called Minimise. When I found out there was even another guy in Italy who started a label called Minimize Records which appeared on Beatport for a short while, I could see that things had really gotten out of hand.”
But this turn seems to be a positive one – as Long Look is based on the “philosophy of thinking long term, having patience, asking how I can contribute to the long term development of this music we all love.”
